When it comes to your diet, it’s important to start looking at the food and beverages you consume as potential fuel for your body, not to mention nourishment designed to sustain your health and wellness.
Once we start thinking about the fact that we are what we eat, we might be a little more selective about what we consume. Below, O’Connor Family Wellness Chiropractic goes over a few diet tweaks that will have a major impact on your health and your overall productivity on a daily basis.
1.) Go with Your Gut
Your digestive system is one of the most hardworking systems in your body, breaking down all the foods we consume and deriving the vital nutrients we need. As a result, the GI tract uses a tremendous amount of energy. When you eat clean, whole foods you’ll be giving your body the easiest stuff to digest. Processed foods confuse the body, throw it out of its natural routine, and takes excess energy to digest.
2.) No More Fast Food
Just stop eating fast food. Period. Fast food is a plague upon our society, omnipresent, and always ready to take advantage of our laziness. It’s harder to go home and cook a fresh meal with fresh ingredients, but you’ll ALWAYS feel better after you do. Fast food is being shown more and more to promote adverse health conditions, slow you down, and drastically heighten your chances of being outside of your target body weight.
3.) Eat All the Greens
Eating clean proteins is important, but it’s also crucial to get good leafy greens in, not to mention cruciferous veggies as well. Kale, broccoli, avocado (okay, that’s a fruit — but it’s still good for you!), and okra are all worth your consideration.
